Fused Nipples

I thought that with a carbon fiber frame the days of my excessive sweating causing maintenance problems with my bike were over. Hah! When I took my bike into the shop for a tune-up this weekend, in preparation for the Pan-Mass Challenge, it turned out that the nipples—special nuts captive in the wheel rims—were fused to the spokes, rendering null their purpose in truing the wheels. Ah, me. Get new wheels or try having the old ones rebuilt?
